Travel Treat Boxes

My awesome neighbor and friend showed me her idea for giving her kids treats when they traveled. I thought it was an incredible idea, so I copied it for my kids. They are made out of Bead Organizer Containers. I put their names on the front in vinyl, and then you fill each container with a little treat. When we go on trips and vacations, they get to be responsible for their own treat bucket. They can eat it as fast or as slow as they want, but it never refills during the trip :-)

  8. Saw this on Pinterest as well and think it is a great idea. We do a lot of road trips during the summer and this would be a great grab and go thing for our 8 year old. I have several of these boxes laying around I am heading to the kitchen to fill up and stack on the snack shelf. that way when we head for the car and a road trip he can grab one and snacks for him are right at his finger tips. Thank you so much for sharing your ideas. Charlotte

  11. Can you tell me what size this is or what company makes it? ... I looked at my walmart for these organizers, but they had tiny little compartments that would not fit anything but beads. Any additional info would appreciated!

  14. This is a great idea! My only concern is putting food not individually packaged into the spaces. I doubt that these organizers are made of food-grade plastic. But simply putting snacks in a snack bag should take care of that.

    1. you could always wrap the snacks in foil or cling film before putting them in the box!

  15. LOVE THIS! We drive a small SUV, and on long trips to see grandparents, my kids like to eat non-stop, but there's not a whole lot of room for a huge bag of snacks. I'll find some slightly larger containers, as we have a 12-13 hour drive on those trips, but this is an awesome solution to "no room and non-stop eating."

  16. Saw this on pinterest! What a WONDERFUL idea! My toddler has this uncanny ability to suddenly be starving the moment his bottom touches the car seat...this should help him keep his snacks to an acceptable amount!

  24. I just think my boy would dump this entire thing out. Need something spill proof. I typically just load different snacks in zip locks and past it to the kids at certain intervals.

  29. For the people who had trouble finding food safe containers. You could still use the containers, but use little zip lock type bags to put the snacks in...I did this for my dad. It was easier for his big fingers to just grab a bag out and have a little treat.

  30. if you look on the bottom of the container at the recycle triangle if it is food grade it will be 1,2,4,5. thats how you know if it is food safe.

  31. I'm curious how you made the writing on the top. I think I saw it was vinyl lettering. Where can I find this.

  32. We're stationed outside of the US and travel internationally at least twice a year. We're pretty seasoned when it comes to travelling (plane, bus, train, etc.) with infants-4 year olds and this looks fantastic. I will definitely be picking up some boxes this summer (got to share with friends). I like the decals, what were the dimensions you used. Was it a local purchase or did you use Etsy?

    1. It is vinyl lettering, I cut myself. You can cut out vinyl with a variety of machines...cricut, silhouette, etc. You can always email me and I can cut them for you...but most likely there is someone in your neighborhood that has a way to cut vinyl these days :-)
